    Dragons

    Gold
    Gender: Female
    Size: 40-60 ft
Rises: Once per Turn starting at 2 Turns (by Admin approval)
    Clutches: 20-40

Gold dragons, also called Queens, are not only the largest of any dragon color but by far the rarest dragons on Pern, at just less than 1% of the population. They are the most intelligent of dragons and they are dominant over all other colors; any non-gold dragon will invariably obey a queen's orders, even against the wishes of its own rider. Queens are incapable of digesting firestone and producing flame; however, they do fight in the most protected wing, the Queen's wing with their riders armed with specially designed flamethrower. They are the ones barking orders, though, and those orders are best followed. An egg that is going to hatch a gold dragon is notable: It is gold-colored and larger than other eggs. A gold dragon will always Impress a heterosexual female and are believed by most Weyrfolk to prefer young women who were not raised in the Weyr. Golds are the leaders of any Weyr, and as such they are often arrogant, possess great leadership qualities, and can easily become very aggressive if their Weyr is in danger. They are especially possessive of males during and around the time of their mating flight and of their eggs after they've clutched, and will not hesitate to turn to violence if either of these things are threatened. Golds are the largest and most impressive of dragons and require strong, capable riders to keep their powerful personalities in check.

    Bronze
    Gender: Male
    Size: 40-50ft
Chases: Starting at One and a Half Turns; Any Female

Subking; Male; Bronze dragons are the largest males at 40-50ft, yet they are generally significantly smaller than queens. Bronzes consist of about 5% of all dragons, being the second most rare of dragons on Pern. They are almost always the ones to mate with queens, as the smaller colors generally lack the stamina to chase and catch the gold dragons when they rise to mate. Due to the 5-1 bronze/gold ratio and the infrequency of gold mating flights, they often mate with greens, but their size often puts them at a disadvantage in chasing the agile, smaller females. The senior bronze of a Weyr is determined through which bronze wins the mating flight of the senior gold. Losers of Queen flights will often find a willing green to service their needs. Bronzes are just as intelligent as golds are, and the senior bronze of a Weyr has higher standing than any other dragon besides the senior gold. Arrogant, princely and self-assured, a bronze will only Impress to a heterosexual male who shares their drive for ambition and ability to lead even in turbulent situations.

    Brown
    Gender: Male
    Size: 30-40ft
Chases: Starting at One and a Half Turns; Any Female

Brown dragons are the next largest color and at about 10% of the dragon population, they are more common than golds and bronzes combined. Browns are the stable peacekeepers of the Weyr; they have naturally mellow, responsible demeanors that make them the perfect ranks for Weyrlingmaster, Wingleader or Wingsecond positions. It is rare for a brown to be temperamental and the ones that are seem to be few and far between. However, they are usually not true leaders, better suited to staying in the background. Their devotion and loyalty to whatever they deem worth protecting more than makes up for their preference of avoiding the spotlight, and they are some of the most valuable dragons in the Weyr. Browns may occasionally mate with queens, although this is rare due their size disadvantage against bronzes, so they usually mate with greens instead. Almost all brownriders are male; most are heterosexual, yet some are "masculine" bisexual or homosexual men. Female brownriders are almost unheard of, although it occasionally does happen.

    Blue
    Gender: Male
    Size: 25-30ft
Chases: Starting at One Turn; Greens

Blue dragons are the smallest males, ranging from 25-30 feet, and make up about 20% of all dragons on Pern. They are nearly as agile as greens, but unlike the greens, they often have enough stamina to last for an entire Threadfall if Thread still fell. Their ability to fly quickly and escape from tight spots make them invaluable fighters for fighting Wings even though they don't pack quite as much power as the larger browns or bronzes. They mate with greens as they are simply too small to keep up with a massive queen over a long mating flight. However, blues are naturally empathetic in nature, and are especially sensitive when it comes to detecting possible candidates for dragon Impression. They often accompany greens on Searches, as larger dragons aren't as acute to the mental sensitivity required to attract a hatchling dragon. Blues commonly Impress to men of any sexuality, though often homosexual or bisexual, but it is not uncommon for them to choose homosexual or bisexual women as riders. They also tend to choose more sensitive riders who can take a joke.

    Green

    Gender: Female
    Size: 15-25ft
Rises: Four times per Turn starting at One Turn
    Clutches: 0-6 eggs; Usually Infertile

Green dragons are the smallest normal color coming in at 15-25ft, and are one of the most common dragons, making up about 20% of all dragons on Pern. They are female, but unlike the queens, the majority are infertile and chew firestone to produce flame to fight against their enemies with. Greens are extremely valuable in fighting because of their agility, but they lack the stamina to last an entire fight and generally fly in two or three shifts. They rise for mating flights typically four times per Turn, and are notorious for being very sexual creatures. A rider of a green dragon is expected to be aware of what this implies and open to having many different sexual partners, because greens rarely choose just one mate. Like blues, they are very sensitive to possible dragon candidates and are the most common dragon to send on Search, often pairing up with blues for this task. Greens usually Impress to females, but are also known to choose homosexual men as partners. Beyond this, though, Greens are so varied in personality it's hard to say what they look for in a rider.

    White
Gender: Neutral; Will Identify as Male or Female
    Size: 15-18ft
Rises/Chases: N/A They do not feel the urge; infertile

Whites are dragons that appear rarely so very little is known about them or their habits. They are the smallest dragons in any Weyr ranging from 15-18ft and also the most mysterious. They are genderless, and experience no urge to mate, although they usually identify themselves as either male or female. They possess excellent betweening skills and are quite intelligent, even able to between through time if the situation arises. Their hides are the most mysterious; they are always a pale, perfect white color, but have hints of all the other five colors in their hide.

    Silver
    Gender: 70% Male; 30% Female
    Size: Males 40-50ft; Females: 45-55ft
Rise: Once Every Other Turn Starting At Two Turns; By Admin Approval
Chase: Starting at One and a Half Turns; All Females
    Clutches: 8-25 Eggs

Making up only 4% of the dragon population, Silvers are even rarer than bronzes. A male silver is the perfect rival for a bronze in size, matching them for size and strength with a female being a near perfect match for a gold. Male silvers usually have a faint bronze undertone to their hide while it is gold in females as if their original color became faded. Male silvers will chase any female color though like bronzes they tend to mate with the greens if they don’t win the flight of a gold or fellow silver. Female silvers when they fly are usually caught by only a strong bronze or silver that proves himself and they can be very demanding to their chasers. The temper of a silver matches their gold and bronze counterparts and it takes just as strong of a rider to keep them in check. However, if they can control their tempers, silvers usually make good Wingleaders and can be Weyrleaders if push comes to shove. This is why they tend to choose strong riders as a whole who can balance them out or match their tempers. Silver boys impress mostly to bisexual or heterosexual males; Silver girls impress to heterosexual or bisexual females - however they’re so new that speculation on who attracts them is running rampant (strong wills, level heads, protective instincts, leadership qualities or potential). They are extremely territorial, fiercely defending their Weyrs, mates, and clutches. A word to the wise? Don’t mess with a silver female protecting her clutch!
